Achieving sustainable recovery quickly

Turning around failing business departments or projects that are running aground to achieve sustainable recovery is one of the most challenging tasks facing management teams.

The department is usually in the spotlight of senior management because of poor performance and may even be under the external scrutiny of regulators or unhappy customers. Alongside this come problems with the existing management team or staff, failing processes or systems and eventually a culture of decline which can become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

While initially flattered at being seen as trusted trouble-shooters, the new management quickly realises the challenge of their task. As well as identifying the major reasons for failure and correcting them, careful handling of staff and other customers or stakeholders is vital.

Above all, the necessity is to achieve turnaround and sustainable recovery quickly.
