HOW WE WORK

Horizon Group

The Horizon Group was established in 2006 and is a network of senior specialists from the UK Financial Services sector which meets to discuss the changing face of consumer financial services and the implications for firms and consumers.

Who is involved?
The group consists of specialists from some of the largest banks, insurers, advisory networks and investment houses as well as the FSA and representatives from lead bodies. It also includes guests from consultancies and other suppliers which can contribute from time to time. The group is facilitated by Enterprise Learning.

Members are all at senior management level and come from a variety of roles including sales/marketing, risk, compliance, HR, learning and development.

What is the purpose of the group?
We are not a lobby group or representative body aiming to promote specific views. Our goal is to ensure there is full discussion exploring different perspectives and issues facing the industry and to help firms, regulators and others understand what is coming over the horizon.

The group discusses issues of the moment in relation to the changing face of consumer financial services. Increased regulation, more competition, lower margins, more complex and competing products and services all mean that the provision of banking, insurance and investments services to private clients is changing radically in the UK.

What does the group do?
The group holds periodic discussions focused on agreed topics. Each meeting discusses papers and/or presentations prepared by members of the group and invited speakers.

The group will circulate discussion notes and papers among its members and may sometimes organise events or other initiatives where it feels it is of benefit to widen the debate beyond its direct members.
